Tonya Adams

Music has always been an important part of Tonya’s life.  While growing up, she played both flute and piano and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA, with a B.A. in Music Education in May of 2000.  After graduation, Tonya’s interest in repair led her to attend Minnesota State College in Red Wing, MN for their world-renowned band instrument repair program.

She has been working with the Flute Authority team since 2001 and is Straubinger Certified.  She works on all makes of professional flutes and piccolos and is a frequent collaborator on quality control with several flute manufacturers. Tonya has had the opportunity to travel to many flute shows and give repair clinics all around the country, as well as to the Miyazawa factory in Asaka, Japan, in 2005 for extended training. She traveled to Japan again in 2024 to visit both the Miyazawa and Sankyo factories. She has played flute and piano in the 34th Army Band of the Iowa National Guard band in Fairfield, IA, since 1995 and is the flute section leader. She currently performs with the Musical Performance Team Synergy Winds, a woodwind quintet.  Please remove: She also performs with a few local groups, including playing flute and keyboards in Wandering Pint, a local cover band (Jethro Tull, anyone?).

During her time off, Tonya enjoys cooking, tai chi, and playing with her two children, Zachary and Madeline.
